Tanya Carter's passion for news has taken her to the Deep South and far away from her home in New York City. Since arriving in Mississippi in 2003 to join WABG, some say she has changed the face of news in the Delta. Tanya became one of the first General Assignment Reporters ever allowed a camera in the courtroom. Her proven track record of excellent investigative reporting experience led to breaking news stories for WABG. Only after a year, Tanya’s experience earned her a coveted chair as the Weekend Anchor. She is a consummate communicator who resonates strongly with viewers. Known for asking the tough questions and pulling no punches, Tanya has been invited several times to serve on the media panel for the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce Election Forum.
In 2005, Tanya won a prestigious Mississippi Associated Press Award for Investigative Reporting. She is also a 2006-scholarship recipient of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Courts & Media in the National Judicial College, Basic Legal Affairs Reporting for Journalists. Tanya is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
