Meteorologist Christopher Mathis anchors the weather coverage on ABC 6 and Delta Fox News each weekday at 5, 6, and 10 P.M.  Chris completed training through the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University in 1996, and then arrived in The Delta in 1997 for his first full-time job in television at WABG.  After a one-year move to another ABC affiliate station in Georgia, Chris returned to WABG in the summer of 2002 and resumed his previous duties as Chief Meteorologist.  On a daily basis, Chris works to earn the trust of Channel 6 viewers by always giving them honest and accurate weather details, as well as a dependable forecast.  He believes the most important aspect of his job is keeping people informed and safe during severe weather events, whatever time of day or night.  WABG's 24-hour severe weather coverage area includes eighteen counties in Mississippi, as well as portions of Southeast Arkansas and Northeast Louisiana.  Originally from rural North Alabama, Chris is a proud graduate of The University of Alabama and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  He holds broadcasting Seals of Approval from both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.
