*State Senate District 12 Special Election*

THIS WEEK, SOME WASHINGTON AND BOLIVAR COUNTY RESIDENTS WILL BE
CHOOSING A NEW PERSON TO FILL THE DISTRICT 12 STATE SENATE SEAT.

THREE CANDIDATES ARE VYING FOR THE POSITION -- DERRICK SIMMONS,
Gwendolyn McClure and Dorothy Walls.

THE SEAT BECAME OPEN IN JANUARY WHEN JOHNNIE E- WALLS RESIGNED FROM
THE POST TO SERVE AS THE 11TH DISTRICT CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE.

Senate District 12 includes 25 precincts in parts of Bolivar and
Washington counties. Residents in those precincts will be allowed to
vote in the special election on Tuesday March first.
